Terence Jeyaretnam is a Principal at URS Melbourne. He holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Western Australia and is a Chartered Professional Engineer. Terence has over 10 years experience in environmental and sustainability consulting working with both ERM Perth and ERM Melbourne and subsequently with SMEC in Melbourne as the Manager of Corporate Environmental Services. He has worked throughout Australia and New Zealand in the public and private sectors and internationally in South Africa, The Philippines, Japan, Singapore and Uganda.
More recently, Terence has spent the past three years in the socially responsible investment sector, working as one of the principals of Melbourne based Sustainable Investment Research Institute (SIRIS). Here he was responsible for developing systems for assessing and rating the environmental, social and corporate governance performance of the ASX 300 and NZSE 40 listed companies. Clients included Rothschilds, ING, IOOF, Portfolio Partners and several international funds and funds managers.
Previously, at SMEC Terence authored the Federal Government's Public Environmental Reporting Guidelines and has published three benchmarking studies on the status of environmental and sustainability reporting in Australia, presenting over 50 papers nationally. He is a Certified Environmental Auditor with the EPA Victoria and QSA. Terence is also active with the Institute of Engineers as the Vice Chair of both the Victorian Chapter and the National Board of the Environmental Engineering Society and as the Editor of 'The Environmental Engineer'.
